Companions on the Journey: Kaleidoscope II

Two Centuries of Dedicated Service
Founded in southern France in 1816, the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate are dedicated to serving the poor and outcasts of society and sharing the good news of the Gospel around the world.  They are present in 70 countries but their ministry began in Canada when six Oblates landed in Montreal 175 years ago.  The Oblates spread across the country and remain active today throughout Canada, including in some of the harshest regions of the country.  These missionaries have served with zeal and compassion.

Diamond in the Rough
Sixty years ago Bishop Klein, the shepherd of the Saskatoon Catholic Diocese, reached out to the Oblates of St. Mary’s Province to take on the retreat ministry portfolio.  The collaborative initiative was such a natural fit as many Oblate priests were providing ministry throughout the diocese.  Shortly thereafter the Oblate missionaries put down roots on this beautiful landscape overlooking the South Saskatchewan River and began serving the spiritual needs of the community, province and beyond.

The Dream Continues Today
The Oblate charism is characterized by the welcoming hospitality of Jesus.  Queen’s House extends this hospitality beyond the doors of institutions and churches, providing sacred space for all members of our community, province and beyond.  In the spirit and charism of St. Eugene de Mazenod, we reach out to the various faces of today’s poor and abandoned.  Our cover page is a kaleidoscope of living testimony from various groups and individuals who have entered our doors and witnessed our charism in action.

Humble Gratitude
Through the intercession of the Oblate Madonna, we pray for our benefactors and all those who over 60 years participated in our mission and dedicated their time, talents and financial resources to proclaim the Good News of the Risen Christ.

Campaign Goals
Our campaign drive strives to attain $100,000 to accomplish our enhancement objectives.  We strive to improve our facility and programs and ensure we have the right and best equipment to serve the needs of the people who come through our doors.  We turn to our friends, patrons and benefactors for support:

  1. CONTINGENCY FURNACE REPLACEMENT = $30,000
  2. FURNITURE REPLACEMENT = $20,000
  3. PARKING LOT REPAIRS = $20,000
  4. ERGONOMIC ENHANCEMENT – RUGS, PAINTING = $15,000
  5. SACRISTY/LITURGICAL NEEDS – $5,000
  6. OFFICE TECHNOLOGY UPGRADES – $10,000

Commitment
A relationship with supporters that leads to ongoing spiritual transformation, builds the Kingdom of God, including our ministry.  Because of countless partners like you, our ministry is alive and well and it will continue to thrive because all believe in the mission and all want to see the ministry flourish.  We look forward to our companions on the journey to support us both in prayer and stewardship.
